How choosing Gonzaga University shaped my academic path, personal growth, and the next chapter of my journey
When I first started applying to colleges, I never imagined I would end up in Washington. In fact, applying to Gonzaga University wasn’t even fully my idea at the beginning- it was my mom who encouraged me to consider it.
At the time, I couldn’t picture myself living in the Pacific Northwest. Washington felt far from home and unfamiliar, and I wasn’t sure if it was the right fit for me. But I decided to apply anyway, thinking it wouldn’t hurt to keep my options open. Looking back now, that small decision turned into one of the most meaningful choices I’ve made.
Today, I’m a Political Science major with minors in English and Digital Marketing, as well as a Division I student-athlete, club president, and part-time college micro-influencer. My academic path reflects both my curiosity about the world and my passion for communication.
Political Science has pushed me to think critically about institutions, leadership, and policy, while English and Digital Marketing have allowed me to focus on storytelling, writing, media strategy, and more. Together, these areas of study have helped me understand not only how ideas shape society, but also how they are communicated in a digital world.
What makes Gonzaga special is the way it emphasizes growth beyond academics. The community encourages students to develop intellectually while also thinking about leadership, service, and impact.
During my time here, I’ve also grown creatively and professionally by building my social media presence in the beauty and lifestyle space. Sharing parts of my college experience online has allowed me to connect with others while documenting this chapter of my life. It has also shown me how digital platforms can be powerful tools for storytelling and personal branding.

Looking ahead, as I continue thinking about my next chapter after graduation, I feel both nostalgic and eager for what’s next. Gonzaga University is truly a special place to me, and it always will be- it is a place where I stepped outside of my comfort zone, discovered new interests, created lifelong relationships, and strengthened my inner voice. The decision to apply, (thanks to mom’s encouragement), led me somewhere I never expected.
Now, as I look toward the future, I’m grateful that I took that leap of faith.
