From Dream School to Reality

My Journey to NYU Journalism Fall 2026 Cohort

Getting accepted into the NYU Journalism master’s program for Fall 2026 still feels a little surreal. For so long, it lived in the category of “dream school”—the kind of goal you work toward quietly, not knowing if it will ever fully materialize. And now, it has.

This transition marks more than just a change in location or academic focus—it represents a shift into the kind of storyteller I’ve always wanted to become. My undergraduate experience shaped my voice, strengthened my curiosity, and pushed me to think critically about the world around me. But journalism at NYU feels like the next level: faster-paced, more immersive, and deeply connected to real-world impact.

What excites me most is the opportunity to be in New York City, a place where stories are constantly unfolding. It’s energizing to think about learning in an environment where media, culture, and global conversations intersect every day. I’m especially looking forward to refining my skills in multimedia storytelling—combining writing, video, and digital strategy in ways that feel authentic and meaningful.

There’s also something incredibly motivating about being surrounded by people who are just as passionate, driven, and curious. The Fall 2026 cohort represents a community I’m eager to learn from and grow with. I know this experience will challenge me, but that’s exactly the point.

More than anything, this moment feels like a step toward alignment—between what I love to do and where I want to go. NYU isn’t just a new chapter; it’s the beginning of a path I’ve been working toward for years.
